Fine overview (Survey) of the Old Testament from an evangelical perspective, suitable (and written for) the lower division college student. Full disclosure: This book published 3 years after I graduated. Dr. Williams was my Master's OT professor at Vanguard University.

Dr. Williams is the editor of this book, which is made up of the contributions of several scholars from conservative evangelical Christianity.

I loved this book. I had to read it as a textbook for my Old Testament survey college class for my undergrad and theology but it didn’t read like a textbook. It read like a history book, or a General nonfiction and it was both informative, and fascinating. I will be keeping it in my library permanently, despite its classification of the textbook. I would recommend this to anyone, especially non-theology students for many reasons, including but not exclusively, because of his easy understanding of Biblical history with regard to the old testament.
