by 320 photographs, 24 in color; catalogues of all Islamic manuscripts in the Library qua manuscripts, including a unique collection from Baghdad; and current critical bibliographies of Islamic miniature painting. Schmitz provides descriptions of all significant bookbindings, in leather and
lacquer-painted, and numerous Qur'ans and Qur'anic commentaries.

Barbara Schmitz is emeritus professor of English at Northeast College (Norfolk, NE) where she taught literature and writing for thirty years, coordinated the Visiting Writers Series and was an editor for Elkhorn Review.
