This is a nice survey of the healing traditions of several cultures throughout the world. The authors reflect on the accounts from a scientific perspective, but not a strictly academic one, in that they submit themselves to various subjective, observational scenarios by participating in some of the ceremonies, rites, and healing sessions themselves. I recommend this book to readers who feel that there is an innate healing potential in human beings that is incorporated into the mystical and religious lore of peoples all over the world. I found the authors' stories of healers from culturally diverse settings to be intriguing entry points into further reading.
