For over fifty years, during the course of their entire marriage, Dorothy Bridges, one of the grand dames of Hollywood, wrote a love poem every valentine's day to her husband, the international flm and tv star, Lloyd Bridges. After his passing in l999, she continued to write the poems out of love and memory. I SENT MY LOVE A A LOVE STORY is the emotional saga of a legendary Hollywood family told from the inside, through Dorothy's poems and the vignettes by her famous children, Jeff Bridges and Beau Bridges, and their sister, Lucinda. Warm, tender and bittersweet, this is a triumphant tribute to the instrution of marriage and book to be treasure on Valentine's Day or any wedding anniversary.
I really hate rating a book about someone’s real life. I tend to rate books on enjoyment level. Although there was some beautiful writing. I wasn’t awed by this book. I will say it was a beautiful tribute to love and the love this author had for her husband.
I loved it. Lloyd Bridges was my favourite actor since his Sea Hunt episodes way back in the 50’s when I was in my teens. I liked him more for a father figure and enjoyed and still enjoy his sons Beau and Jeff’s movies to this day They too are ages with my self I always admired that he remained in his marriage for almost 60 years as well as his beliefs and politics being that of my own The book is about that marriage through the ups and downs of their lives and partly seen through the eyes of their children as well But Dorothy Bridges truly loved her husband Lloyd no matter what something that this little book portrays I found it inspiring and delightful
