“You already have everything you need within you to create the life you desire.”
“Sometimes shifting your perspective helps you see something positive that’s been hiding in plain sight . . . If life gives you lemons, be prepared to do something constructive with them . . . Once you shift your perspective . . . You will begin to tap into your own power . . . Being greatful means being honest with yourself. It means acknowledging the lessons you’ve learned from difficulties,, seeing the parts that are good, accepting them and being thankful for them.”
“It has taken me decades to understand that only I had the power to change my life . . . If I can change my life for the better, so can you . . . I have used the four steps to access clarity, connect with gratitude, and actually feel my life and all the blessing in it.”
“When you change your mindset, your circumstances naturally begin to change.” 💌
I thought I’d start out 2026 at midnight with some self help, you know, for a better new year and all that.
I loathe self help.
But let me be intentional and start with the positive - the authors did make decent points about gratitude and taking a positive perspective to different situations.
The rest though?? Exactly what you’d expect if you loathe self help.
For one, why do they all use the exact same terms. Who is THE UNIVERSE that we’re speaking to intentionally??! What does it mean to SHOW UP? And then I’m a millionaire?! Does my boss read these books??!
And while I do appreciate a story of self confidence and self assurance, these authors legitimately come off as self important braggarts. There’s a fine line between gratitude and arrogance - and I think we’ve crossed it here.
Finally, for a self help book, this just felt incredibly shallow and materialistic.
I really want to give this one star, but the UNIVERSE is speaking intentionally to me and SHOWED UP with two, so I’ll hit submit before I change my mind.
