Bill travels to Charleston, to meet and get to know Amy, now infamous since the publication of her nephew's book about her, The Trembling of A Leaf(this series is becoming very self referential). After a brief affair, Bill whisks her off to Italy to film a porn version of Monna Vanna with Cloris. Once there, she is enjoyed by both Bill and Cloris until they are, as Cloris puts it, "all fucked out".

So now we have the intermingling of the John Dellmore and Bill Benton narratives, even though Dellmore hasn't been seen since the second book, The Enjoyment of Amy. Colleton/Marks, once again writes lovingly of Italy, the food, the wine, the towns, and the women, and he seems to have a particular fondness for the women of Abruzzi. Amy is the main obsession though, and she gets a lot of words and pages devoted to her "body like Raquel Welch" and her fleur-de-lis tattoo. First published by Signet in September 1976.
