Assassin Teams and Exes Don't Mix

Once they were an elite supernatural assassin team
Now they’re divorced and far, far apart. She dwells in the rural wetlands. He runs in the urban jungle. Jeanie never wants to see Ratt again. Ratt can’t wait for a second chance.

Assassins with Delta Underground Operatives never really retire. A new threat to Baltimore’s supernatural balance requires they get together once more.

Jeanie:
I was warned… A Fae from the wetlands should never fall for a hot, human illusionist. But Ratt and I had chemistry. We were unstoppable when it came to supernatural foes. Until I caught him naked with a certain sexy necromancer. The honeymoon was over. Now, DUO wants us to team up again. To tackle someone only we can defeat.“Trust us,” they said. “It’s only one more time.” Yeah, I’ve heard that line before.

Ratt:
It wasn’t my fault… We were among the best agents DUO had and perfectly matched. My power of illusion partnered with her command of nature magic, made us unstoppable. I dreamed we’d last forever. Then a terrible misunderstanding split us up. Now, I get one more chance to plead my case while we’re forced together against a new foe. Will she listen to me this time? Will we survive long enough for me to try?

He’s hopeful. She’s over him.

With someone subverting the innocents in Baltimore, both are expected to put it all in the past. Can they overcome their differences and save the city? Ride along with Jeanie and Ratt until death do they part!

I was excited to see a new series by this author, and the blurb sounded very interesting. I had to dive in, and the action started right away and pretty much didn’t let up until the end. Jeanie and Ratt are pretty much at odds, but they need to work together. I really like how the author handled the end of the book regarding their relationship, and I really can’t say much about that as I don’t want to spoil it. However, I can say that there are enough threads dangling to intrigue me in wanting to see more from this interesting couple universe. Fun, action-filled, great urban fantasy. Highly recommend.

Once again, I've been blown away by a DUO book!

This time, we have Jeannie and Ratt. They had been partners in marriage, as well as within DUO.

But Jeannie saw something that she believed was true, and ended their marriage - and tried to end their DUO partnership, too.

But Alder had a job for them, and insisted that they do it, despite Jeannie's anger.

Ratt, on the other hand, was delighted to get any kind of chance to set things straight, at last, so agreed to the job.

With Jeannie's Fey powers, and Ratt's Illusions, the two have to face someone who has total mind control over multiple people at once.

He is planning something devastating, and doesn't care how many bodies litter the path of his ambitions.

It's now up to Jeannie and Ratt, to catch this killer, before he kills any more people, and before his plans come together.

I loved this story. Jamie Davis, the author, set the scene brilliantly with these two characters, and their reactions to each other keep a slow burn to the book.

I really enjoyed the fact that each character's point of view led the storyline, as they took it in turns, chapter by chapter, to reveal themselves, and their deeper emotions.

I also loved the way that their powers complemented each other - and laughed out loud at the reaction they had after using them!

I think my favourite other character, was Jeannie's Uncle Kenny, and my mouth actually watered at the description of the meal he provided our two heroes!

I am really looking forwards to reading more about this pair, and want to see how things will go when they meet up again.

This was an action-packed, but fun, read, and will make an excellent addition to the DUO teams!

Oh this was an excellent beginning for a new series, i love the concept and i'm curious to read more about it.
gods disappeared and the only left half god put in place a system with duo as protector of the magic. To access the only left pool of divine magic the protector/warrior are matched as couple and only together they can access it and reinforce their own magic.

In this instalment we get Jeanie, an unusual fae ( won't reveal what kind it was too fun) and Ratt , an human, both are assassin with illusion magic power . However their couple split after Jeanie thought he had cheated and if Ratt wants to win his wife back, Jeanie is too proud to accept she made a mistake. But when their boss Alder requests their tandem on a specail case, they can't refuse and get back into the work where people are acting not like themself then found dead....with a little magic mental defense they are the best suited for the case....if they accept to trust each other again.

I loved their interactions even if i'm not fond of Jeanie, too proud and stubborn to the point of stupidity. I loved the variety of faes, the intrigue is well written and i definitively want more because lot of answers are not found yet. The only reservation is that this series will be written by several authors it seems so i hope the quality stay the same but this instalment is excellent.

Even better than I could have ever imagined. Gosh, imagine a divorced couple having to get back together for work! What could go wrong?!
And it was nice to explore Baltimore in the DUO universe. I’ve always enjoyed visiting that city.
So in this story you have relationship dynamics, action, great characters, and a great plot. This is a must read.

I love the dynamic between Jeanie & Ratt and I really do hope they get back together because their chemistry is fantastic. Plenty of action and suspense kept my interest from start to finish. The ending left room for more so I hope Jamie Davis continues their journey

Enjoy the ride

I enjoyed the story and the action.
It's urban fantasy with magic users and abusers. The story features an investigation by a team of 2 (previously married to each other) operatives that are more powerful together than separately.

Good book

Ratt and Jeanie have quite the past. Even though they are divorced they are a DUO team that got pulled back despite being divorced.

Nice to meet Jeanie and Ratt.

Alder mentioned them earlier in the series. Marriage is hard enough for people who don't work together. Sexy times are glossed over without details.

Finally

Finally a professional who seems to care about what he writes. A couple of errors but not bad compared to the books before, especially the last one.
