This would have been rated higher if I was a law student or brand new practitioner. It was too basic to be very helpful for a practicing trial attorney.

This is a cross-examination-focused text book for a Trial Advocacy or Mock Trial class.

As a criminal defense attorney, I am somewhat of a cross-examination nerd. I try to read as many books on the subject as possible.

This book is straightforward and contains most all of the conventional wisdom of cross-examination. Some of the examples are good, while others, mostly the ones taken from real-life cases, are ridiculous and almost never happen in an actual courtroom. There are 4 mock cases that the book contains to practice on. Two criminal (a murder and a rape) and two civil. All of the materials you would need for a mock trial are contained in the book and on the CD.

If you are looking for a deep-dive into the theory of cross, this book is not for you. If someone was looking for a cross-focused textbook for class or an introduction into the practice, this is a good book to read.
