The bay was awash with stranded whales. Their high-pitched calls filled the air. Ben had to get help.
Based on the true story of a town whose people saved 120 beached whales, Stranded is the story of one little whale, and the boy who risked his life to save it.

Stranded by Jan Ramage, illustrated by Mark Wilson – 2010 – Touching beached whale rescue story from Australia. Just love how determination, community effort, selflessness, and caring were demonstrated in this easy to read aloud story. Special to think about how humans can make a difference. At the end of the book there is an author’s note about how the book is based on two rescues of whales at Busselton, Western Australia. One rescue brought in 1500 people to save over 120 stranded false killer whales. All but one whale survived. Great book to connect to learning about community action.
