I loved this book. I have a strong medical and dental phobia I’ve been working through and I thought this book was well written to help that crowd in a calm and comforting way. I’m currently working my way through the exercises in the book (you are supposed to read the whole book through without doing the exercises and then go back and do them) and I thought the book had a great way about how to go through the process with advice for any situation to come up. I am doing these exercises with an actual therapist but I would feel comfortable working through this book on my own as well.

it's quite effective if you really follow the exposing routine the book encourages. so don't expect your phobia will relief by itself after you finished reading. you must challenge yourself to get out of your comfort zone and it will be annoying for sure.
