The articles are from lectures given at the Vedanta Society in San Francisco. The author was known for powerful and brilliant lectures that attracted many Americans From the Table of The Theory and Practice of Monism, The Razor's Edge; Meditate While You Work; It's Place in Spiritual Life
This book I felt while reading, a master Guru is guiding in his beautiful words about the concept of spirituality in the context of hinduism. The book provides as introductory lecture on subject of religion, God, Hinduism, Meditation, importance of ritualistic worship etc. Very inspiring book, I just feel elevated in ky soul after finishing this book. Very amazing overview of the Vedanta tradition give in a collection of short speeches. Having only every really been familiar with Abrahamic religions, this gives an incredible insight into the thoughts/sentiments behind a completely different philosophy of Vendatism which formed the basis for Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism and far beyond. Topics included the theory of Monism, meditation as a constant exercise, the purpose of ritualism and of God-men, and the path to/meaning of enlightenment. The most interesting thing I took from this book is that unlike the majority of other religions, Vedantists don't care much if at all about converting people. They believe that you are repeatedly incarnated and whenever the time is right for you you will end up in the life of a deeply spiritual persona and ultimately realise the oneness of yourself with God (the state of illumination).
