I read this book less for the .Net aspects and more for an overview / insight into the world of backend financial software.

The authors do a good job of explaining the business requirements and context for all the decisions they make before jumping into any code. As the book was written for .Net 1.1 it's a bit dated in the technology for some areas but still definitely worth a read just to get a grounding in the sort of components that exist in financial market software.
