Most people study astrology to discover more about themselves and to help others. In Destined for Murder , authors Sandra Harrisson Young and Edna Rowland use astrological charts and the case histories of some of the most vile killers in criminal history to discover whether astrology can indicate if someone is liable to become a serial killer.
Destined for Murder examines the lives and morbid careers of some of the most infamous murderers in history, such as John Wayne Gacy, a generous businessman who volunteered his charitable services to the local Jaycees by day, and by night became a "killer clown" and pedophile who slaughtered thirty-three victims. Read about Ed Gein, who either murdered or robbed the graves of fifteen people. He was the model for the movie "Psycho." Learn the awful truth about Jeffrey Dahmer, who murdered seventeen boys and men, dismembering them in his grandmother's basement.
The lives of several other murderers are revealed, followed by a precise astrological examination showing how their birth chart initially indicated problems and how secondary progressions and transits reveal the rest of the frightening story.
Fascinating to see the astrological charts of known serial killers and the similarities in those charts that pointed toward pathology....very fascinating!
An interesting but ultimately frustrating read. Covers several serial-murder cases, thumbnailing the histories and then matching up the known facts of the killings with the flashpoints in the killer's birth and progressed charts. The authors say they expect the reader to know the basics of astrology, and I do, but I still can't make heads or tails of the book. An especially maddening example is the opportunity the astrologer had to answer the lingering question of whether or not Ed Gein killed his brother. She knows when and where it happened, she has all of Gein's birth information, and she obligingly blathers out all this arcane stuff about "the midpoint of murder" and the planetary positions and angles of the chart...THEN DOESN'T TELL YOU WHAT ANY OF THAT INDICATES. Dude -- did he or didn't he? Another huge problem is that the dates of death she gives for Jeff Dahmer's victims don't agree with the dates given in other books. If we can't even agree on when Anthony Sears died, how are you going to match that time of death with what's going on in the killer's chart?
