One review (SBL) of this book says that you'll learn more than you ever wanted to know about the life-cycle of the locust. Maybe, but if you want to know what's going on with the locusts in the book of Joel, you better know something about locust ecology. This book has an amazing range of knowledge, including a fascinating look at various cultural understandings of time and a discussion of honor/shame societies from an anthropological perspective.
