A small sample of the Classical love stories. Cupid and Psyche has been a favourite of mine since I was a child, but as I am currently reading C.L. Lewis' Till We Have Faces I thought it would be good to reacquaint myself with the details of the original story.

Other stories include Apollo and Daphne, Pyramus and Thisbe (good to finally know what Shakespeare's amateur actors were going on about!), Echo and Narcissus and a few others. Not sure why the story of Bacchus is included in this collection, it seems a bit out of place.

I've never read Bulfinch before, but now I think I'll look out for one of the bigger volumes of his retellings.
