There is more to Birth than the physical process of having a baby. Birth is a Spiritual Rite of Passage for women, offering an opportunity for profound transformation. She Births challenges each woman to consider how their Birth Choices profoundly affect not only their lives individually, but the world as a whole. No matter on what side of the Birth journey you stand, She Births offers powerful truths you can apply to the way you see yourself in the world.
This book has a lot of nice ideas and positive intentions laced with the author's obvious judgments and beliefs about the right way to give birth and the right decisions to make for a baby. These subtle judgements can create an insidious ideal for new mothers to either "achieve" or "fail." We don't need more mothers feeling like they have failed at giving their babies a good start. The author manages to (perhaps unconsciously) insinuate that all of the wonderful transformations that happen to mothers and babies at birth can only happen in natural birth, setting up all the women who have attempted a natural birth and needed to move on to other interventions to feel like failures, which is not how any mother needs to feel when she is forming her relationship with her new baby.
