Aboard the riverboat 'Tulip', Thomas the otter and his furry friends Wilbur and Minty share many unexpected and hilarious adventures. They are helped and hindered by numerous animals and birds who live on the river. Contains seven short stories.
Lucy Kincaid is a published adapter, author, and editor of children's books. Many of her books were published by Brimax and many were published in collaboration with her husband, illustrator Eric Kincaid.
This is obviously the middle of the series, as the stories just get going with introductions or explanations of who the characters are or what they are doing on the riverboat.
The stories are less appealing than those in the Woodland series, but Eric Kincaid's beautiful illustrations make this worth the read. I did enjoy reading about the aqueduct and the lock - I didn't know there are aqueducts in England, but there are!
I wonder if Wilber Mole is related to Willie Mole...
