Six Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson British 🏰 mysteries family and friends relationships adventure thriller short stories by Roger Riccard Vol five. Each story is different with interesting well developed characters lots of action and misdirection leading to the unexpected conclusions. As a Sherlock Holmes fan I enjoyed this series and would highly recommend it to fans of Sherlock Holmes and readers of mysteries novels 👍🔰 2023 😀🏰👑😮
Another series completed. Happy reading and have fun 🌙😀
This is a set of six short stories set mostly late in Holmes' life (one after WWI for example). It is odd seeing Sherlock deal with cars and electric lights, but given how static Doyle's stories were, it is also a nice change.
Watson is dealt with very well in these stories. He's not just a storyteller who is perpetually shocked by Holmes' conclusions. Watson's military and medical experience serve him well in these tales, giving Holmes useful information and sometimes he's even a more significant figure than Sherlock.
One of the stories was a bit of a slog, as nothing really happened and it wrapped up a tale from previous books in this series, but the rest were pretty well done, particularly the final one based on a real story.
Overall not a bad pastiche, better than most. I'll look for more books in this series.
The culmination of the Alphabet of Cases series, Mr Riccard has hit his peak in this volume. He is spot on with his his adherence to the canon of ACD, Holmes is at his best, and Dr. Watson’s voice rings true. The stories are quite engaging and not once do I recall, “Watson, the game is afoot “ which other authors throw about endlessly. If you are a fan of Holmes and Watson, this book is for you.
Roger Riccard has masterfully crafted a case each titled from a letter in the alphabet. This is the final set of stories in his series of alphabet cases. Most of these take place in the years around the Great War. Very cleverly done. The final story was certainly my favorite from this book.
Z is the best story because it gives another look at the life of the retired Sherlock Holmes. He even has a Basset Hound named Lestrade! (I love Basset Hounds.). The other stories are uneven.
Excellent storytelling. Always have been a fan of Holmes and Watson. This author brings ideas to new life with new interesting and exciting prose, especially Holmes and Watson's later years.
Some of these tales were really out-there, but almost all were enjoyable, not easy to solve and made SH and Watson think and detect the mystery in a very readable way.
