If you love Ancient Egyptian designs you will love this book. I am not a huge fan of Ancient Egyptian stuff, but the designs in this book are gorgeous, different and interesting.
There are 21 different designs all with different finishing techniques ranging from framed pictures to trinket bowls.
There is an interesting Ancient Egypt introduction to start the book, then the first design is a large Ancient Wonders design of the Great Sphinx at Giza and the pyramids of Khufu with side panels of different Ancient Egyptian beliefs. The range of small designs on here which make up the large design could be used separately for smaller projects. A nice touch is the descriptions of each symbol and what they mean written by the author.
Next up is an impressive Tutankhamun design and a gorgeous Egyptian Queen that make a nice set of pictures.
A very large wall hanging of the Royal Hunt is next inspired by a painting on a casket found in the tomb of Tutankhamun.
Next up is my favourite design - a gorgeous depiction of Isis, the Winged Goddess. It is very pretty with the dress formed by beads.
The Regal Falcon is next stitched is gorgeous jewel colours.
The next section has designs of magnificent monuments capturing the atmosphere of Ancient Egypt - the temple at Luxor, a pyramid scene at Giza and a Ramesses wall hanging.
Decorative hierographs make up the next section that can be finished in a range of different ways.
An interesting portrayal of Bastet, Cat Goddess is next - it is stitched with many different colours to suggest the patina of the bronze statue - at first glance it looks kinda weird, but the colours do make sense.
A very pretty bag stitched with a design of a winged scarab is next, stitched with gorgeous jewel colours and beads.
Two cushions are next with designs of the papyrus and the lotus with instructions on how to make the cushions.
The last designs are two river scenes of life on the Nile and a section on materials, techniques and stitches at the back of the book.
All in all, quite a fascinating book which I would consider adding to my own library - it is out of print but can be found quite easily to buy online.
