A typical entry gives place and date, general type of document autograph card, unsigned typescript, etc. and opening line. Often indicates current location or owner. Entries under each alphabet letter have consecutive numbering, for ex., entry no. W547 is the 547th entry under "W" or, as it happens, the 28th--in chronological order--of 69 letters from Forster to Virginia Woolf .
