In 1914 Europe would flip and engage in the first world war . With new inventions the war was a stand still trenches were the major defenses and changed warfare forever. Inventions included machine guns witch fired rapidly and took out many soldiers in droves. War was fought on land and sea.

Also the tank was a major milestone to crawl over trenches and barbed wire without getting stuck. the airplane also was a big step in warfare this lead to dogfights. (Arial combat) But the worst was by far poison gas used by both sides. Poison gas is a terrible weapon of mass destruction. And today our modern world was forged in the fire of the first world war.

This book gives a good synopsis of America’s involvement in WWI. Some parts seemed rushed through, but it is overall a good read.

The Not so calm before the storm. Thats how this story takes off, the Germans attack and sink a passenger ship named the lusitania carrying 1257 people with 159 americans. The book quickly gets into the details of the start of the great war, or the war to end all wars, if you want a detailed ride-along story of exactly what went on in world war 1, this is your go to guide, it only has 150 pages to it, but Peter Bosco packed everything that happened from prewar to post war, he also added maps, of key interest towns and cities, maps of attack plans from both sides, and pictures of the total destruction that went on during the war that remodeled most of Europe. Each chapter talks about a new problem, from attrition, to attacks from the air, and to heading into no-mans land. If your a person who is interested in history, war or peace, you need to read this book, I'm sure you'll learn a thing or two that you had no idea what happened throughout the war, from the amounts of money spent on food rations, to the amount of u-boat sinkings from 1914 to 1918. This is a great historical read and I would recommend it to anyone who likes learning about war and important times in history.
