The Most Unusual Pet Ever

Well, hi there!
Thank you for wanting to know more about our ''unusual pet,'' Henry...
You cannot put him on a leash or take him for a walk.
He does not come when you call his name and you cannot put him in a cage.
You cannot give him a bath or pet him.
He does not sit next to you on the couch or sleep beside you at night.
He will never come into the house and could never be taken to the veterinarian!
He does not wear a collar with his name and ''if found'' information around his neck.
You do not have to follow him and pick up his poop, either!
THEN HOW IN THE WORLD CAN YOU CALL HIM A PET?! Well, we can--and do--and once you read this you will see how, and realize that special friends or pets can come in many forms, so it's best to stay alert so you don t miss them! So sit back, relax, and enjoy the story!

Children of all ages will love this book. Accompanied by beautiful illustrations, Sondra Perry masterfully creates pictures with her words as we follow the true adventures that all started one day with a visit of a Great Blue Heron to the author’s backyard. With well-crafted prose appropriate for children, Perry’s book takes us on an educational journey of suspense, surprise, and the values of kindness, love, and caring that truly matter in life.

I do have to mention that I am the author:-) Even so, I do love this book! It is the true story of a Great Blue Heron we call, Henry, that has been visiting us for over 10 years. It's a sweet story of a special friendship with nature that continue to this day. And the watercolor illustration by Janice Byer are just beautiful. This is a great book for children of all ages, and adults too!

I truly love how a real interaction with wildlife can create a calling that would be answered. kudos to Sondra for taking a decade long relationship with a backyard visitor and wanting to share it with everybody. What a great book for kids to be introduced yo the magic of nature.

This was a most amazing book about a bird that landed in the author's backyard, ate all the fish in the fish pond, and came back daily to be fed by the author.
