This book provided a useful comparison between the basic grammar concepts of English and Italian. It operates on the assumption that native English speakers don't necessarily understand the grammatical foundation of the language they grew up speaking. If you prefer to learn a language by focusing on its grammatical rules, this book is ideal for you. But note that the book does not try to lay out every detail of every grammatical rule in Italian; it provides just enough context to help you see how it differs from, or is similar to, English. The authors make clear in the book's intro that they intend that you use the book alongside your Italian textbook. I'm glad to have read it. It has definitely helped make stick some of the concepts I learned in my beginning Italian class.
A worthwhile book that explains the Italian well and will help you remember all those irritating technical terms in English grammar that you can't remember.
