Prof Yogendra Singh gives an integrated view of social change in India. He consolidates different frameworks into his integrated framework which covers both cultural and structural changes. He is of the view that tradition to modernity is not a linear change in India but there is 'modernization of tradition' as well as 'traditionalization of modernity' thus making relationship between tradition and modernity as dichotomous.

Amazingly written. Very useful for UPSC Sociology optional.

Modernization paradigm as a synthetic approach of structure and tradition, is very helpful in understanding the current contradictions that exist in Indian society

A fantastic book that explains how India's traditions have evolved over time. It's analysis of influence of Islam on India's culture is unique.
