Grandma's Lost Gift: A Christmas Story
Every Christmas season brings displays of the familiar nativity scene, from elaborate life-size presentations to small hand-crafted creches. Grandma's Lost Gift, a story of love and hope, revolves around the fate of one such creche.
Authors Harvey and Audrey Hirsch take us back to Poland in 1939. When invasion and unrest fill the tense air. Anna and her parents must flee Krakow, escaping only hours before the advancing soldiers. They have to leave everything them, except their memories. Over a half-a-century later in America, "Grandma Anna" receives a gift from the past that reveals--in a very magical way--the true miracle of Christmas.
Inspired by the experiences of close friends to the authors, this book is a wonderful holiday story to read aloud to children. Both adults and children will appreciate the delicate drawings of Martha Weston, a nationally respected artist and illustrator of more than fifty books.

My mom sent me this book signed by both authors for Christmas. I enjoy books about our heritage being Polish and loved how a simple gift meant so much.
A gift lost during a war and found many years later by a grandchild.
