An appeal to those who have felt betrayed by organized religion to give faith a second chance. There is a perception by millions that the church doesn't care about them. This has left many to feel forsaken by the church and, as a result, a distance from God with no compelling reason to return to the church. In this book a young pastor extends his outstretched hand to those who have left the church, acknowledging their feelings of alienation, to walk with them in their search to find a way back to God.
Standing ovation for the Author With this book he hit the nail on the head, he hit a home run, he hit a hole in one with no mulligan needed. This book made me think, reflect and remember. With portions I could relate and associate my life with, memorable points and ideas are presented here with such greatness that I feel like I'm having a quite personal conversation with the author rather than being at a lecture, "giving faith" that the author knows what it's like and what the reader feels. There is no doubt I will read this again in the future, and maybe compare to see what's has changed in my life and not changed.
If you have been in the church pews for years or have not been inside a church for years this book is for you!!! Christopher does a great job of taking an honest look at life and the struggles many of us share with the organized church. His stories connected with me deeply and I identified with many of the people he wrote about even when those were the "bad examples" or people who were not sharing the love of God). I would recommend it for reading both on your own, but would be great to read with others and to talk about your own experiences. Great read!!!
