Heat Transfer Augmentation Using Vortex Generators

Rate this book
Flow control involves passive or active devices that have a beneficial change on the flow filed. A considerable amount of research has been performed using passive methods of flow control, which modify a flow without external energy expenditure. Passive techniques include geometric shaping to manipulate the pressure gradient, the use of fixed mechanical vortex generators for separation control or to enhance heat transfer and placement of longitudinal grooves or riblets on a surface to reduce drag or to produce vortices.
