With 50 themes that inspire hours of dramatic play and creativity, lists of props, easy extensions, related vocabulary, and associated children's literature, Prop Box Play makes it easy for children to bring their imaginations to life!
This is a book that was on my homeschool bookshelf and I am not sure when or why I bought it (second hand), but I pulled it out and read it through. It gives ideas for boxes of props for kids play, probably for preschool/kindergarten/ young elementary ages. The idea boxes are themed. Themes include things like space, under the sea, restaurant, optometrist, dentist, farm etc boxes. For each box theme, there's a list of things to collect for the kids to play with as well as a list of extension activities (field trips, movies or books to go with it etc; the wedding one for example suggested baking a "wedding" cake for snack time). I felt like some of the activities and lists were no brainers and some were really good ideas. Kind of a mix. I was hoping that the lists would include stuff from around the house and it's a bit of a mixed bag in that sense; I feel like I would have to round up and shop or substitute for a lot of the boxes. Anyway I give it 3 stars. ⭐️⭐️⭐️
This is a great book for anyone who is a parent, grandparent, or early childhood educator. There are 50 themes and ideas for props to make or assemble and starter ideas to get kids enjoying creative play in that theme area. Lots of fun ideas!!!!
