A grandfather exaggerates his stories to his young grandson about how much he ate when he himself was a child, how far he walked, and other aspects of his life then
This boastful grandfather and his exaggerated stories are hilarious. Sammy, the grandchild will always disagree "I don't think so."
This book was published in 1991 so now we know that exaggeration has always been there, somehow a way to counter whining, complaining or just simply wanting to talk to someone.
This book has repetition throughout. The grandson says something and everything he says the grandfather has the comment, “when I was your age,” and tells a crazy story. The craziness of his stories might make students laugh so I would probably read this one out loud to them.
I got this book because my dad always says this to us. It wasn't as good as I was hoping but I think to younger children it might be funny. The grandpa was exaggerating just a little too much for my liking but I like how the kid knew the stories weren't true.
