Mache quite caught my problems and perceptions of the cul de sac that new music has gotten itself in an articulate way. a great section on birdsongs, especially as to how birds piece them together and how various composers have followed some of these methods.
Points to a trans-species of musical activity and how there are sound activity of various animals that have nothing to do with mating or survival, but as a natural inclination to make sound.
