Sweet romance between former pro-baseball player Seth, and divorced single mom Kim. Seth was a wonderful hero, right from the beginning when he rescued Kim from drowning in the ocean. He was great with her young son Dylan, very patient and caring. The beachside town of Moonlight Cove provided a nice backdrop for the story.

This book was way to cheesey for me.

Although I wasn't a huge fan of the third-act conflict, most everything else about this book was sweet and heart-warming, particularly the scenes between the MML & the FML's son. With a strong faith thread, good romantic chemistry, and a cute little side romance, I'm glad I read this story.

I totally loved Family to the Rescue up until halfway through it and then it felt to me as though Kim switched personalities.
In the beginning, I loved her humour and her spunk, her outgoing attitude, her hard working persona and the fact that she crushed on Seth.
Midway through, however, she seemed to lose her sense of humour, she decided to become judgemental and worse, she preached at Seth about faith.
I thank the Lord I have to guess what it's like to be a single mom, being married with a husband and three kids, but there was this selfish scene when Kim gets mad at Seth for volunteering to fill-in as coach for Dylan's baseball team. She doesn't want him to become 'closer' to her son but, hey, what about the other eight kids on the team? Don't they need a coach, too?
Btw, what is wrong with Moonlight Cove when the fathers aren't swarming to help out with their little guys team? I think my son's baseball team has five coaches but could easily have twelve with all the dads who want to get involved. And, weirdly, the new mom in town Kim gets to be assistant coach? That's stretching it.
Also, bugging me was the fact that it wasn't until p.165 of 217 that Kim realized that she didn't have faith in Seth when she had preached faith begets faith. I forgot how old she's supposed to be but what has she been doing in church all this time? Sleeping? Not really listening obviously but I'll give her the benefit of the doubt since she's been burnt more than once and it's hard to forget hurts of the past. Just don't preach about it unless you live the life, lady.

I enjoyed this book a lot. It was a very sweet romance with a Christian undertone. I liked that it wasn't too preachy. It was a very easy read. The characters were very likable, I liked the family aspect of it and how Seth not only fell in love with Kim but her son Dylan also. A book I would definitely recommend if you want a feel good Christian romance.
