Summary: This book is an overall biography of Abraham Lincoln. It talks about how he was the sixteenth president that helped to preserve the Union during the Civil War and who is known as a compassionate man and eloquent speaker. Evaluation: I gave this book an overall rating of a 3. Although the illustrations are good, they are not credited in the back of the book and they are not original images. Also, although all of the information in the story is mostly made up of common sense, there are other parts in the story that would’ve required research to know, and none of that is cited in the back of the book either. Teaching Point: I would use this book as an interactive read aloud when talking about presidencies. I would then read a book about George Washington and ask them to compare and contrast the two presidents using a graphic organizer. I would then ask them to write 2-3 sentences about which president they enjoyed learning about the most and why.
