An excellent read to understand the true value of each major vitamin and mineral, relative to the health of your Melanin.

Pookrum argues that the world is categorised into 2 groups: melanin-recessive people and melanin-dominant people (those of Asian or African ancestry). She argues that the western model of healthcare has been built on the needs of the melanin-recessive, thus explaining the higher rates of infant mortality and the shorter life span of african-Americans today. She urges melanin-dominant individuals to reclaim their health back by eating a diet which supports their makeup (predominantly a vegetarian diet), to live a better and more fulfilling life overall.

Amazing so far. I wish there was more editing, but the information is fantastic and it makes sense!!!! It puts a lot into perspective about why I've heard some of the things I have at the doctor's office.

This was a re-read for me. I could see my original notes in the margins! But I always learn something new and Dr. Pookrum is a treasure.
