About the author

João Pedro Agustini Stedile is an economist, activist and writer. Marxist by formation, is one of the greatest defenders of the agrarian reform in Brazil. He has been a trainee and worked as a technician for the State of Rio Grande do Sul's Agriculture Secretariat. He has advised the Pastoral Land Commission and has participated since 1979 in the activities of the struggle for land reform in the country, by the Landless Workers Movement and Via Campesina. He is also a member of the Workers' Party (PT) in the municipal directory of Cachoeirinha in Rio Grande do Sul. Stédile is the author or co-author of several books on the agrarian issue and on political issues such as socialism and class struggle.
