Blood Lust: a my Fractured Life saga by Rikki Lee Travolta is a very quick read. Quite the page turner, it redefines the vampire genre similarly to how Anne Rice revamped the genre with the Vampire Chronicles. A former Hollywood heartthrob, now at the bottom of a bottle and down on his luck, stumbles on the hidden world of vampires and is himself turned into a vampire. The turn has a surprising affect on his attempts to re-enter the Hollywood star system. Author Travolta does an excelent job with character development and plot twists, making it a very good book and a great escape.
After thoroughly enjoying Travolta's first novel My Fractured Life, I rushed into reading the sequel Blood Lust. The vampire twist was very interesting and worked better than I would have expected. Even with the vampire twist, Travolta doesn't stray far from the escapades of his Hollywood has-been leading man (he obviously knows what his bread-and-butter subject matter is). I give it four stars - well worth reading although not quite as hypnotic as My Fractured Life.
I love Blood Lust as much as the Twilight Series. It has a fresh take on the vampire genre that addiction to blood is not the worst vice a Hollywood actor can have. Great characters. Great book.
