Child psychologist Dr. Ken Condrell and Linda Lee Small offer comprehensive and sound advice on putting the parent back,in control of their children with understanding, compassion, and humor.
This book is mostly practical. He gives good examples of how each parenting tactic (and corresponding pitfall) is used. As a teacher, this was handy for me. I hated seeing kids suffer, but now I know that for them to learn consequences you have to allow them to feel those consequences and not squirm so much about it
I’m excited to use these methods with my 2 year old. Practical advice that makes sense. Parents need to be the authority “boss” and how to practically implement this at each stage of childhood into teenage years. Authors have examples of bad behavior at school, the grocery store and how to have well socialized children.
Pretty good tips and points on not to be a pushover, but more geared towards kids a little older than my monster. Definitely will be using his tips in the future though!
Great book, easy and quick to read. Contains helpful information on how to not be a "wimpy" parent. I love the author's deadpan wit and straight talking style.
