While this is a short book it provides a glimpse into a young woman's view of the pre World War II period through a few short poems. The poems are in German on one page and English on the other. The poem on page 35 entitled simply "The Jews" written in l938 on lone level is a historical theme yet is is also an apt description of what followed in Europe. The other part of the book is the diary she wrote while on board a refugee ship. There are tantilizing references to her writing which would lead one to think she has written more but alas, if she has it has been lost to history.
