Abigail Skunk teaches her kits many lessons. In this story, they learn to help others, to keep clean, to practice safety and to care for family. Most of all, the little skunks learn that being polite and courteous helps them get along with other animals.
Marian Keen, B.S. in Education, Central Connecticut State University, studied middle-grade education and taught Grades 5 and 6. Marian writes historical fiction for middle-grade readers in her series, "Alexander Catt’s Adventures—Tales of His Nine Lives," and "Lexi Catt’s Meowmoirs—Tales of Heroic Scientists," which are stories about famous people in history as told though the eyes of a cat. Marian’s stories for young readers feature British Columbian animals such as skunks, racoons, owls, bears, squirrels, crows, and seagulls. "Abigail Skunk’s Lessons for her Kits" is the first book published in this series.
"Verity" is Marian’s first published novel for young adults.
Marian wrote her first adult novel, The Jewel of Britannia, which is set in British Columbia, Canada during WWI.
Soon to be published is the story of the beginning of the Canadian Northwest Mounted Police witnessed by Alex the Catt, followed by the young adult novel "The Haunting of Pleasure Beach".
Marian Keen has been writing in a variety of genres since the 1980s, with a special interest in historical fiction for children and youth.
