As a kid I very much enjoyed learning how people from other cultures celebrated different holidays. This book is a great learning tool for kids to see how other people celebrate the same holiday around the world. It incorporates backstories and different cultures. New Years Eve is a great holiday to learn about because almost everyone around the world celebrates it. This would be a great book to read leading up to winter break.
Written in 1966, this book sits in my library's nonfiction section, and I have contemplated weeding it but thought to read it before doing so. Though semi-outdated, I found that read with such context in mind, one can find value in learning new year cultural terms and customs around the world that likely still exist today. Some traditions are too classic to ever lose relevance.
