Some times the readings were exceptional. Usually those ones were direct excerpts from the Summa. But overall, in general, it wasn't my favourite book for meditation.
The issue I have is with the daily meditation format. Excerpts are taken out of context from all over the place and rearranged into 365 entries. The problem with that is that there is no continuity of thought between the meditations. The excerpts from the Summa are not in the objection/reply format of the original, which really takes them out of context. I would much prefer to read the Summa directly, where you not only have a nice organization of each article itself, but the entire hierarchy of articles is systematically and meticulously arranged to have a logical flow and development, with each article building on the previous ones. Here, everything just felt disconnected and unengaging.
I've attempted "meditation for every day" styled books several times now, without much luck. I prefer reading the authors' works themselves.
