Of Mice and Men, wow, what a title of an book! No this book has nothing to do with mice but has a lot to do with men. Why would a book have a name like this? That's the first thing I thought to myself when I was confronted with this interesting titled book.

Lennie, a mentally retarded muscular man travels with a small man named George. Lennie can do the work of ten men proving that his strength is most powerful. George is the brains for Lennie, who tries to keep Lennie out of trouble. Many may say that Lennie depends on Lennie but I believe George depends on Lennie because of his strengths.

Everyone person in this book has an handicap. From mental to physical handicaps. As for Lennie his mental retardation is his handicap but the other men in the bunk house have issues. George the small guy relies on Lennie for his money. If Lennie doesn't work then it would be harder for George to have the work done on time. Candy the old man in this book has no arm and a blind dog that can't eat or sleep and not good for Candy anymore.

This book is actually very interesting to me, because they have many characters of different personalities and race. It's like the author put a group of totally different people in one story and tried to see if it would work. It's like as if the author wants to us to see if these characters can connect or not although they have many differences.

In Conclusion, I will recommend this book to anyone who loves realistic books or who enjoys John Steinbeck. John doesn't end the book with a lovey- dovey feel to it, but it shows that dreams don't always come true. I believe this books symbolizes that you may be ignorant to society but intelligent to life. Lennie is the American dream.

Trying to go thru some of the well quoted classics. I loved this book. OK I cried at the end, what could george have done different? Sorry Lenny I really liked you. I have the same kind of dream for a commune. I would like to become more like slim in my life. seems like I am constantly working with carlsons/sleepers.

One of those classics I read over and over when I was growing up. Still a favorite. A quick short read that never fails to grab onto my heart strings.

This is such a sad story, but an amazing timeless story. I have read it several times, it's great for something quick but thought-provoking to read.
