So far as I can find out, I have no theory about Jesus to make these talks fit into. I have tried to find out for myself what the old Book of God tells about Him. And here I am trying to tell to others, as simply as I can, what I found. It was by the tedious, twisting path of doubt that I climbed the hill of truth up to some of its summits of certainty.
Samuel Dickey Gordon was a widely traveled speaker in high demand. A prolific author, he wrote more than 25 devotional books. He also traveled to Europe and Asia as a missionary. A plain man, controlled by a strong desire to edify God's people, he won the respect of the learned and at the same time the affection of the simple.
A third of the way through the book I still didn't know the author's purpose in writing it. I found it not so much difficult to read as not really worth the effort. When I read his belief that the Jewish sacrificial system was God's first plan of salvation and that Jesus' death was not God's original and only plan to save mankind, I was out. Will not finish, do not recommend.
"It can be said at once that His dying was not God's own plan. It was a plan conceived somewhere else, and yielded to by God. God had a plan of atonement by which men who were willing could be saved from sin and its effects. That plan is given in the old Hebrew code."

It took me a bit of time to get through this book due to the author's style of writing, that being said; I did find it interesting. I also agreed with the majority of the author's thoughts however there were a few I did not.
