MCITP GUIDE TO MICROSOFT WINDOWS SERVER 2008, Server Administration (Exam 70-646) by Michael Palmer is designed to prepare for the Microsoft Exam 70-646 as well as instruct in basic server administration.
From installation , setting policies to troubleshooting the book covers everything you will need to get started with servers. Each chapter ends with review questions as well as challenge activities to test your knowledge of the subject. Every chapter walks your through lab activities as you set up your sever , options and parameters. The book includes a disk to practice for the 70-646 exam, though you may need some extra study materials.
Though server 2008 is not the newest version of Microsoft Server it is still very relative as most will not upgrade until they have too.
Though I had this for a class it also worked in well with my current employment. I will keep it on hand as a reference as well as to continue practicing my skill sets.
