Concise Glossary of Architectural Terms

Rate this book
This book gives quite a bit of information regarding terms associated with old western eurpoean architecture, primarily religious and civic buildings. The emphasis is strong on middle ages to 1700's, with little reference to no reference to asian, african, or recent architectural features. This would be a good book for examining historical buildings within these parameters, but is not suited for examining features of modern buildings or the application of modern architectural terms. A helpful resource for illustrations and definitions of European architectural terms. Useful to have in hand when reading books about architecture. The sentences are old-fashioned and somewhat hard for the non-architect to follow, but still enjoyable for the interested contemporary reader.
