Near Fine Soft cover Text/BRAND NEW. Soft cover/NF. Gift inscription on fEP. First published in 1896 as an abridged form of John Henry Parker's celebrated dictionary of architecture. The intent was to produce a portable manual/handbook for travel use. This is a reprint of the 9th Edition, now with some 400 drawings ranging from brickwork in ancient Rome to the vaulted roof of Westminister Abbey. An authoritative glossary of pre-Modern Western architecture. Fine copy.
A helpful resource for illustrations and definitions of European architectural terms. Useful to have in hand when reading books about architecture. The sentences are old-fashioned and somewhat hard for the non-architect to follow, but still enjoyable for the interested contemporary reader.
