David caught the writing "bug" in sixth grade after winning a writing contest sponsored by his local newspaper. In high school he won an award for the Alice Walker writing competition. He went on to study writing at Gonzaga University, Eastern Washington University, and the University of Portland. He finally received his BA in Management of Human Reso urces from George Fox University at its Western Evangelical Seminary in 1998, when he was 28. Ever the seeker of knowledge, he had also managed to obtain a quadruple minor in the areas of art history, music, English, and business for radio/TV. David had originally wanted to be a concert pianist and had studied piano with Stan Trogan, and grande dame Nellie Tholen -- both of Portland, Oregon. In college he studied jazz piano and film scoring with Father Gary Uhlenkott at Gonzaga University. He has also traveled the country as the accompanist for national motivational speaker/entertainer, Linda Greep. David enjoys: writing books and donating a percentage of his net profits to various charities, recording his own music for an upcoming CD, drinking coffee, writing poetry, composing music, sitting quiet, and traveling. David lives in Knoxville, Tennessee, with his life-partner, Randall, their golden retriever, Sadie, and their two dachshunds, Ripley and Turnberry.
