I'd say this is the best introduction to Whitehead's metaphysics for the nontechnical philosopher or layman. Hosinski's use of examples and analogies reinforce, greater than any other introduction, the language of Whitehead's metaphysics. Although I think the best introduction to Proccess & Reality is no introduction. Whitehead's Process & Reality, it's introductory chapters, lays out, proposition by proposition, the doctrines required in order to make his system work. I think having a look at that and then reading this would probably make for a great primer before one dives into Process & Reality.

It took me about 3 weeks to get through this book, which is a long time for me. I am not an avid reader of philosophy, and this book is a bit heavy. The first time I came across Whitehead's philosophy, I thought it was quite crazy. This book has helped me to see that it is not so crazy as I had thought. The few diagrams that it had were extremely helpful, and I wish that it had more. All in all not bad, and I feel ready to tackle Whitehead's writing now.
