A book with an anthology of 30-odd scholarly translations of the Beowulf saga including a collection of unfinished translations and paraphrases. A translation is given about 5 pages of treatment each and includes rational criticism, albeit with occasional vilification: "It is useless to attempt a classification of the errors in this version."

A timeline with milestones and which translation descends from which other translation would have helped in understanding the relationships between the numerous versions of the underlying work.
