Eno Monroe had every excuse in the world not to achieve but he never made any. He never knew his father and his mother loved drugs more than her two sons. Still, he made the best of a bad situation with the help of his grandmother and support system. He longed for love and a family of his own, but happiness wasn’t easily obtainable. For Charli DuPont nothing was traditional, not even her family or home life. Unlike most girls, she didn’t have the luxury of growing up with a mother and father. However, she was surrounded by love and never felt as if she was lacking anything. Love had found her, or so she thought. Her picture-perfect vision was actually a glass stained with lies and deceit. Having her heart broken by the man she loved caused her to make rash decisions with deadly consequences. Charli unintentionally put the lives of the ones she loved in danger and made a few enemies along the way. See what happens when old love is reignited and new love blossoms. Some one night stands last longer than one night. Sometimes, they last for life.
Before you even dive into this drama it is HIGHLY recommended that you read “Worst Case Scenario” first. Most of these characters and storylines carry over from that book. This is the first “spin off” that Chenell has written (to my knowledge) and I’m not sure how I feel about it. Thankfully there wasn’t a whole lot of summarizing of the previous book so I will say that this was a spin off done right. I guess my issue lies with the lack of depth between Eno and Charli. We got plenty of character development which is always guaranteed when reading from this authors catalog but I feel like adding characters from the previous book equaled a missed opportunity to allow more development between Eno and Charli’s relationship. The love wasn’t convincing.
With that said I still enjoyed the story. Not my favorite from Chenell but still very much on brand from what we’ve come to expect with her writing. If you’ve read Worst Case Scenario, then you must remember Nas and Remo! They were still very much with the shïtz. This book surrounded brothers Eric and Eno. If you remember Eric was Toi’s love interest and Eno was his older brother. Eno and Charli met in the club through a mutual friend Mocha and what was meant to be a one night stand bound them together for a lifetime.
I’m not going to make this review a dissertation lol so I’ll bring up my key takeaways.
Hazel was done wrong. No one truly took her trauma into consideration and I hate how they tried to sweep her feelings under the rug. 😒
Nandi was a triflin heaux and she was given too much credit playing the victim. She knew that Zayden was a cheater and she was content with sweeping his transgressions under the rug and then decides to turn on him and set him up 🗣️ION LIKE THAT!!!
And speaking of Zayden this is the one time where I’ll say that a character got what he DID NOT deserved. While he was a fk boy his naïveté is what caused his demise. He was green to a lot and he allowed his cousin to lead him down the wrong path.
Lastly Ashlee….. girl….. smh I don’t even know where to start so I’ll say just read the book.
I really enjoyed this book. It had the right amount of family bonds, friendship, drama and love connections. Chauncy/Sire was my favorite with his hilarious antics. He was about that life when it came to Charli. I definitely liked how the author incorporated the characters from Worst Case Scenario in this book as well. Although Nas and Remo gave up the street life they didn't hesitate when Eno needed help. Zayden was wrong for how he did Nandi but he didn't deserve what happened to him because of Trek's lies. Glad he got what he deserved. These characters have been through some things but in the end, thise that mattered got their happily ever after with new chapters in the making.
I loved this story. I will read any and everything this author writes. I’ve never been disappointed. Worst Case Scenario was my top 3 read by this author. Imagine my surprise when we got to see Nas & Remo and the gang. I was glad that Eno got his happily ever after. I loved Eno and Charli, and their story had me laughing and smiling.
First of all, I really like Eno. He was like most guys who just need the right woman in his life. The whole Ashlee situation was pretty bad. He really tried to do right by her, but she did not want to help herself. I do feel that she felt like she had no other options. I liked Charli, but I don't like the manipulation tactic she used on Eno when it came to the drugs. She put so many people at risk because of her hurt. Zayden was a trash and a follower, but he didn't deserve that, especially behind someone else's BS. Nandi should have gone home from the jump. She also should have warned Zayden, but she was acting off hurt and wanting to protect her kids. Now, let's get to Hazel. I don't understand why it seemed like no one took Hazels feelings into consideration. Yes, they suggested counseling, but I don't understand why they even wanted a relationship with her abuser. It's like no one was on her side. Overall, it was a great read.
This was a good book but I feel like the author went into heavy detail about things that didn’t matter and not a lot of details on things that could’ve made the story really POP!
I loved Eno’s character. He really didn’t play about Charli!
I honestly didn’t feel bad for Zayden. He might have not deserved to go out the way he did, but nevertheless he was TRASH!
Nandi was so annoying but she ended up coming through at the end of it all.
I have no words for Ashlee
There was some comedic relief. I love a funny author!
Another hit!! I have read every one of this authors books and I must say this is a first. Eno is the BDE that we women all dream of. I love how him and Charli hot it off and made it about getting to know each other and becoming one. Man, I know I'll reread this one. Good job, Mrs. Parker
I've been been waiting for an extended version of Remo and and Nas, well I wassnt disappointed. This book offered drama, humor, and action and all I've anticipated in MS., Parker books.
It was decent. I know she states that you don't have to read Worst Case Scenario first but if you don't this will be too much. This didn't seem like a standalone but more of a spinoff/follow up. Now Chenell is one of my absolute faves, I'm talking 1-click instantly, but this one didn't do it for me. It was predictable and drawn out. That may be bc I read Worst Case Scenario a long time ago so the characters/story wasn't fresh. Overall, it was just ok for me.
I usually love Chenell Parker’s books, but this felt lacking. Way too much was going on, I don’t need complete histories on every single side character. Some things just added nothing to the story. Overall the story was boring sadly.
This was a pretty good read... It had some characters from "Worst Case Scenario" You don't need to read that one first but I do recommend it... It will help you understand the backstory for most of these characters a little better... This read had some moments of feeling a little scattered... It also repeated itself a good amount of times... Some timelines were off and I did question some things said because later it kind of contradicted what was said beforehand... Other than that I did enjoy the storyline... I love Charli... She is so down to earth... Her family is super rich... Yet you would never know that with her... She did not let money go to her head... She is still out here going to school to make someone of herself even though she does not even have to... She learns the hard way about her live in boyfriend and all the skeletons that are sitting in his closet... And with the severe heartbreak that she had... She starts acting out and doing things that is not normal... and those decisions definitely shook things up for her and changed her life for good.. But was it good or bad... Lucky for her she has so much love and support from her family to help her in all situations... Especially her dad Chauncey... He was over dramatic... But he always got things done... Mocha is best friends with Charli... She always has Charli's back and rocks with her through everything... She has had a rough childhood with not giving the love that she wanted from her own mother... This made it hard for her to really love as an adult... This caused her to close off from the love of a man that she really cared for... So her only way to keep her wall up is to hurt him... Eno is best friends with Mocha... They grew up together along with another girl named Ashlee... Eno and Ashlee decided to give a release a chance... It was not really what he wanted but he felt sorry for Ashlee so he took care of her... He was out running a club as a manager and making smart moves... While Ashlee was sitting at home not trying to better herself in any way... Even though Eno told her she needs tp... But she didnt listen... Well one crazy night at a club... Eno crossed paths with a woman and little did he know how much this one night would change his life forever... Zayden broke Charli's heart... Then after that it was like his life was caving in on him... No matter what he did... Nothing was working out for him... Then he got his cousin Trek involved and his life went downhill from there... His cousin was super shady and was willing to do anything and throw anyone under the bus to save himself... But Zayden just didnt see it... Until it was to late... It was nice to see that everyone got what they deserved... Some just got caught up in some things that they were not ready for... Others made their own bed and had to lay in it... And some just could not get things through their head even when they were told time and time again... Well onto my next read...
My goodness MS. Parker, you have taken the moniker of “go home or go big(something like that)” to the highest capacity…. This is how you come back on scene, swinging with gloves on and with everything you’ve got 👏👏👏👏🔥🔥🔥🔥so welcome back!!! Now that said, unfortunately I believe that this book should have been called “Sire” because I swear my stars, clapping and fire is also because I have NEVER enjoyed and laughed so much while reading a book; but Sire was it for me, specially when the thing went down and instead of standing with Charli, girlfriend dropped her so quick talking about “both of us don’t need to both lose our man 🤣🤣🤣”, that was messed up. Charli and Eno, and Mocha and Pudgy were boring as a couple because the chemistry was not hitting. I mean they were cute but adding Nas/Stori, Remo/Kalina, Eric/Toi, then Zayden/Nandi with the biggest star being Chauncey/Charles, it was extremely busy and too much was going on at once specially with the grands, great-grands, father, mothers and then you got the acquaintances as well, 😅 that was a mouthful so imagine reading it… and because of all that, the main characters were not getting their due diligence: the dates, the chase, the romance, the over the top extravaganza gifts and all that… Nonetheless, it was still good and extremely enjoyable!!! Again MS. Parker, welcome back and please don’t drop us like cold turkey again, please 🙏🙏….
May want to read 'Worst Case Scenario ' of youre not familar with it, its one of my favs so there was need for me to.Chauncey is a whole vibe! He was most definitely my fav.Too many funny moments to name them. Eno and Charli did move a little fast for me , not in the sense of time but I didn't really get a feel of their budding relationship. They went from one night, DNA, being intimate again(manipulation tatic from charli) to I wanna try this relationship out with you. Where were the dates, the late night phone calls, the surprise jealousy encounters? Why hadn't Mocha ever mention Eno to Charlie? Mocha was nasty but I'm glad she got it together and I really liked her.Really great hearing from Stori and Kaleni. Kaleni still scary, she said you can hide in the closet with me lol. Zayden was foul but I think his punishments were a but much but sometimes that's what hanging with the wrong person/crowd gets you. Ash Ash Ash smh. Lots of love lots of humor in this book, this is now one of my favs.
I’ve been watching for a new Chenell Parker book for a minute so I was pleasantly surprised when I saw this in my suggested reads. At first I thought it was too busy with so many moving parts and characters but it all started coming together and I found myself unable to put it down. I was so caught up in the story I had to change our super bowl party menu because I waited too late to go to the store since I didn’t want to stop reading.Eno was the man and I loved his and Charlis relationship. Zayden was a clown and although I didn’t like him much, I don’t know how I felt about his karma especially because he didn’t do what he was accused of, he did deserve to have his heart broken no doubt. Sire was too funny and I loved how he had his baby’s back no matter what. It was also cool to read about former characters. I’m so glad I read this and now I’m sad it’s over.
As always, I enjoyed reading another one of your books! You have to watch the people you love just as much as your enemies because even blood can be put to get you. Trek was the devil on Zayden’s shoulder. He couldn’t see that his cousin was leading him to his own death until it was too late. Zayden was wrong for thinking he could be with Charli and string Nandi along. He left her in Baltimore with two boys to raise on her own. Things blow up in his face once the two women meet. Nandi ended up in with Zayden and things get worse between them. Charli engages in a one night stand with Eno and he finds out that she is pregnant with his child. Sire is funny and I thoroughly enjoyed his character. I hate that Haze didn’t tell him the full story of how he was conceived. She’s suffering and it’s hard for her to let go of that hurt. I’m happy that Mocha gave Pudgy a chance. They seemed to really love each other.
This was really good. I always read this author and there is never a disappointment. All the characters are from different walks of life but they just fit together. Nas and Remo still crazy but adding Eno and even Pudgy and Kidd just makes it soo much better. The word thing is how everyone is connected in some way but never really crossed paths. Eno is definitely that ni**a and it's all in the way he handles Charli and all the situations that come his way. I love Charli as well honey did not take no mess but she still had her times when I was like damn Charli. I did not expect Zayden to be like that though for sure that was a surprise but that cousin always screamed snake.. moved too much. Mocha was definitely a light with the way she handled all her best friends but also in the way she handled her stuff. Overall great read!!!
Wow Awesome I really enjoyed reading about all the past Couples to See Toi and Eric was still going strong...
Nas and Remo still the same just family men now...
Eno and Charli actually were great for each other Both bought out different perspectives sides and Both of her father's are amazing and Eno Grandma was just little nieve To Ash crazy frfr stuff she did If Eno and Nas Remo didn't not move like they did she probably would have killed his gm only person who actually tried to help her....
Zayden lost his life all because his cousin was out here doing him dirty spreading lies on his life .. But in the end Trek gotten his payback...
Mocha and Pudgy finally got it right now there having there son ....
I kinda figured her mom would be up to something...
I have read many of Chenell Parker’s books and she does not disappoint! So why not 5 stars if I loved the book? There were a few grammatical errors and places where it should have he instead she etc. nothing that really distracted from the story, but it is a pet peeve of mine. Second, some of the characters just really got on my nerves! I loved Charli, but how was she so intuitive about Maria, but couldn’t see her own family using her as an ATM. Or like everyone supposedly knew that Zayden packaged his stuff differently then everyone else but they didn’t switch it out? If it was so unique it seems like that would have been an auto red flag. Anyway great book!
Chenell Parker never disappoint, I know this was a new story. I'm glad that we got to catch up on the old crew and see how they were doing, Charli was shelter when she was growing up. I love Chauncey, he reminds me of Coco. I felt bad at what happened to Zayden, his cousin was messed up for doing Zayden that way. But Zayden wasn't no angel how he treated Nandi and his sons. Charli was smart to move on when she found out she was wasting her time with a liar and cheater. Nandi finally came to her senses, it was good to hear from the twins again. Lol, it was a great read!!!
Yasssssssss I fell in love with this read. When I tell you that Chauncey dramatic self had me dying laughing the whole time. That man was crazy but I loved the way he loved Charli since the beginning. Eno and Charli were meant, and I'm glad they found each other. I'm happy Nandi moved on with her life and did better for herself. I knew with Zay it was bound for something to happen with a cousin like Trek. What happened to Trek I don't feel sorry for him. Mocha and Pudgy finally got it together, and I'm happy for them andddddd, Pudgy finally got his first son. Great read, Chenell
One night stand. Secret baby. A messy, good time. Eno and Charli were cool. Sometimes the story felt scattered but it came around more full circle than I expected. I loved Charli’s family dynamic. Her parents added so much to the story. This kind of felt like the throwback urban fiction books, a couple of extra storylines with the side characters.
Mocha being mixed up with El was wack. Either way that was messed up to Genesis. I’m glad Nandi got it together. I wish some of the more fun things would’ve got scenes instead of being glossed over like the baby shower and going to Vegas.
Chenell, you have done it again. I really enjoyed this book from beginning to end. I'm glad that Charli found true love on Eno. Chauncey was a mess, but you had to love her. Mocha was a great friend, and I'm glad she finally gave Pudgy a chance. It was also great to hear from the twins Nas, Remo, and their family. I hate Zayden went out like that, but I'm glad Trekk got his karma. Lindsay and Vinnie got their karma as well. I'm glad each couple got their happy ever. Chenell, keep up the great work.❤️
Chenell is back and as usual her ability to tell a story was on point! Love, deception, family, friends and respect! I enjoyed the built of the relationships, Charlie & Eno and Mocha and Pudge! I enjoyed That living lenses and the love for her parents, Sire and Charlie. Eno's grandmother, Lucille was so precious! Eric & To I we're good together as well! Have other characters from the past was p!aced perfectly! There were some grimy folks as well and they met their demise ! The epilogue was nice and everyone received their happily ever after!
This was a good book the extra that Sire brings to the table is the best. I wouldn't mind it being all about Sire and his husband because they both are extra. Nadine or whatever her name was really got a bad deal but in the end even she made a come up. Eno and Charli just fit but for some reason it wasn't a challenge to they relationship and that's why I only have 4 stars because she had him at day one. A good read that you couldn't guess the outcome and that kept you on your toes.
This book was a Good Read. I have it five stars ⭐️ because it was intriguing and it had drama and it introduced us mothers that were drug addicts, it contained love and passion and joy , humor and tears but it also gave us people who should have been treated bad by their mothers and spouses but they defied their situations and they didn’t let life dictate to their circumstances. I love how Karma came in and made an impact on her victims… Great penmanship Chenell Parker.
I do enjoy a good one night stand to lovers trope. Charli and Eno’s love story was a good one, & I wish I could have gotten more of that (now I’m realizing the difference between urban fiction and urban romance)
The book did contain a lot of unnecessary details on irrelevant people, but a lot of the characters were enjoyable. I loved Chauncey! He was absolutely my favorite in the book.
This book took me through way too much trauma than I’d prefer, but it is going to make for an entertaining book club meeting.
First of all, let's give a big shout out to Chauncey "Sire" DuPont, best, funniest, and most supportive dad of all time who made this book EXCELLENT! Back to Eno and Charli! I loved this couple! Their start was unconventional but segued into a beautiful relationship. We must, however, factor into the story crazy exes, a plethora of haters in general, and of course, evil relatives. Last but not least, Nas and Remo, the baddest twins in The Big Easy, back to wreak more havoc!
Charli SMH, one reckless move put a lot of lives in danger, but she was naive and didn’t really thought it thru.
Eon had a good heart, and some folks will take advantage FRFR! He placed himself in situations he could have avoided! I’m happy he got his HEA!
It was great seeing the crazy twins LOL 😂. I may have to re-read their book again! Sometimes you think you leave your past behind, but it comes back into your life unexpectedly.
I don’t know where to start but it was a good read. Eno was a mess but I love him. Charli was just green to life beside the books. Mocha was my girl I just hate she had such low thinking of herself.. Toi and Eric we’re still just a loving couple. Nas and Remo we’re still crazy as ever. Zay got everything coming to him. Trek was just a snake. Charli mom was a piece of crap. Eno loved Charli like no other….
