Edna St. Vincent Millay was an American lyrical poet and playwright. She received the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry in 1923, the third woman to win the award for poetry, and was also known for her feminist activism and her many love affairs. She used the pseudonym Nancy Boyd for her prose work.
This famous portrait of Vincent (as she was called by friends) was taken by Carl Van Vechten in 1933.
Edna St. Vincent Millay poems, in a lovely books with simplistic photos by Ivan Massar. I am loving Edna St. Vincent Millay poetry. Lots of nature inspired works.
I love art in all its forms and I absolutely adore Millay...that being said, I wasnt thrilled with Massar's photographs. After a while I quit looking at them and simply read the poetry. I like to find a quiet place and read them out loud; there's something about Millay's work that when you hear it, even if it's in your own voice, lifts and takes me to another world.
