The Pendant and the Prophecy by Sam Withrow and Amelia Pinkis picks up where the supernatural chaos of Ruled by Fate left off, thrusting Brie and Cameron into a whirlwind of new challenges. After the harrowing events at Daya Memorial Hospital and the near-death experiences of their friends, Brie has accepted the existence of Elysian beings. Now, she faces the difficult task of revealing this truth to her childhood friend, Sherry. Summoned to Elysium to recount their experience to King Enoch, Brie soon realizes that larger, darker threats loom on the horizon. At the heart of her journey lies the mystery of her pendant and its connection to an ancient battle between good and evil. Withrow and Pinkis deliver a fast-paced fantasy romance that keeps readers hooked from the first page. In this second installment of the Forbidden Tears series, the stakes are higher, the danger more palpable, and Brie’s journey becomes even more complex. As she and Cameron search for the origin of her powers and unravel the prophecy tied to her, new characters join the quest, adding depth and fresh dynamics to the story.
The authors skillfully build upon the momentum of the first book, seamlessly transitioning readers into a world where suspense, humor, and romance coexist. A highlight of The Pendant and the Prophecy is the evolving relationship between Brie and Cameron. Their romance, while not the central focus, remains a vital thread that enriches the emotional core of the story. Withrow and Pinkis continue to strike a balance between moments of humor and the increasing tension surrounding the characters' perilous mission, keeping the narrative engaging without losing its edge. The cliffhanger at the novel’s conclusion expertly sets the stage for the next installment, leaving readers eager for what’s to come. While the authors do a commendable job of building tension, their frequent use of foreshadowing may feel a bit heavy-handed at times. Hints dropped at the end of chapters sometimes reveal too much, making certain plot twists predictable rather than surprising. Still, this approach doesn't detract significantly from the story’s enjoyment, and many readers will appreciate the clear direction in which the plot unfolds. Perhaps one of the most compelling aspects of this sequel is the continued world-building. With their creative spin on biblical mythology, Withrow and Pinkis breathe life into a fantasy realm teeming with lore and unique characters. Their vivid descriptions and intricate history add richness to the world of Elysium, making it easy for readers to immerse themselves in its complexities.
The Pendant and the Prophecy is a strong continuation of Brie and Cameron's adventure, successfully expanding the scope of the series while maintaining the excitement and charm of the first book. Fans of Ruled by Fate will be eagerly awaiting the next chapter in this gripping saga.
Picking up exactly where we left off, readers can delve into the world of The Pendant & The Prophecy by Sam Withrow and Amelia Pinkis. The second in a series, the action kicks off exactly where we left our protagonist Brianna Weldon and her personal Angel, Cameron. While it may have been agony to wait between volumes, you will want to snatch this installation up to continue the journey. The character development in this series is really top-notch. While the content may seem out of this world, the way it’s written feels as though it could truly happen. The reactions to events are authentic, especially those of Brianna, our protagonist. She reacts like a real person would: not just a two-dimensional heroine as is often the case. Her relationship with Cameron is expanded upon in this book however their romantic tension is not thrown in the face of readers. It’s a subtle piece, bubbling under the surface and being made known when necessary. It can be hard to follow up an excellent debut into the literary world: even harder still to maintain that momentum with a book in the same world, with the same characters. It is clear that Withrow and Pinkis made every effort to ensure that the worlds they are birthing are those of quality, and that characters are fully developed. No balls were dropped here, and the rich writing makes reading this continuation that much more worthwhile. There is a delicate balance between fantasy and romance in this book. A writer has to be careful not to overwhelm the reader with one genre or the other. This is a careful blend of two genres, while they often overlap, that has produced wonderful results. What we have is an exciting story, interesting characters, and a romance that doesn’t feel tacked on or overpowering. Withrow and Pinkis have clearly outdone themselves. For those who were eagerly awaiting the continuation of Brianna and Cameron’s tale, The Pendant & The Prophecy by Sam Withrow and Amelia Pinkis is the furtherance you have been waiting for. Picking up directly where it left off, we are once again thrown into the strange world of Elysium, the entwinned relationship with Brianna and Cameron, and how the pieces all fall together. Setting the stage for a third instalment, readers won’t be dissatisfied with the quality of writing that Withrow and Pinkis have graced us with.
The Pendant & the Prophecy is the second book in the Forbidden Tears series by Sam Withrow and Amelia Pinkis. It tells the story of Brianna Weldon and her guardian angel, Cameron, as they face more and more tribulations. Their forbidden love, the mystery of Brianna’s pendant and the powers that accompany it, the threat to her family and friends, and threats by dark forces. Are they able to unravel the mystery of the pendant and become victorious against the many trials and tribulations that threaten to destroy them, or is it too much for them to handle?
I found so many things to love about this book, one of which is the blending of mythical creatures and biblical stories into our modern occurrences. The ease at which the divine and human realms are blended makes me wonder if perhaps there’s a world I’m oblivious to. I’d be remiss if I didn’t comment on how wonderfully the characters were developed, each of them unique in their own ways, from Brie and her strong, reliable, and defiant nature to Cameron and his hard exterior and his ability to share his vulnerabilities with Brie and Ephraim, with his twisted sense of humor, his wit, and his fierceness. The blend of myths, mystery, romance, adventure, comedy, and fantasy was an exceptional experience.
The word choice and writing style were excellent. I particularly loved the inclusion of different points of view, giving the reader a sort of omniscient experience. The vocabulary was both simple and interesting, making the reading experience extremely enjoyable.
All in all, it was a wonderful book, and I found it really enjoyable. I’d rate it 5 stars because it was both interesting and funny, and the characters are well developed. I recommend this book to any lover of the mythical genre; this will be a great read for you. Also, I recommend it to any person in a relationship. The resilience of Brie and Cameron in the face of many tribulations that plagued them will motivate you to be a better partner.
I was immediately drawn into the story as it immediately kicks off with Brianna Weldon inheriting a mysterious pendant. Sam Withrow and Amelia Pinkis have done a commendable job introducing the mystical realm of Elysium, creating a vivid and immersive world that feels both magical and tangible.
The character development, particularly with Brianna, is well-executed. As she navigates the challenges brought on by the pendant, her journey feels authentic and relatable. Cameron, a central figure in the story, adds depth and complexity, though the romantic tension between them is more of a subtle undercurrent rather than a dominant theme. Their interactions are meaningful, but the story primarily focuses on the broader adventure and the mysteries surrounding the prophecy. What stands out most is the seamless blending of magic, mystery, and prophecy throughout the plot. The narrative is filled with twists and turns that kept me engaged, particularly as dark forces and divine interventions come into play, challenging the characters at every step. The pacing is well-balanced, with each chapter building upon the last to create a compelling and cohesive story. The authors' writing style is descriptive and detailed which allowed me to fully visualize the world of Elysium and the characters that inhabit it.

When she learns of its connection to an ancient prophecy, Brianna finds herself trapped into a complex world of magic and danger. This novel is written in dual world system. With the forces of both good and evil after the pendant, the stakes are high, and the suspense intensifies as the plot unfolds.
The novel explores several key themes, including destiny, power, and love. Brianna's journey reflects the burden and responsibility of fulfilling a prophecy, especially one tied so deeply to the future of two worlds.
